Hi,

Is £400 too much to pay for a second service for a Polo?

I would have thought so. Especially a second service.

IIRC my local main dealer want £300 for the second and £200 odd for the first. They tried to supply a bottle of screenwash (charged for at main dealer rates of course) at the first service. I saw it on the bill, took the bottle back and declined to pay for the unasked for item.

they also wanted £65 to change the brake fluid. A trusted and reputable local independant specialist did it for £25.

The second service will be done by the independant warranty or not using genuine parts

To compare the first service for my CDTI 150 Vectra was £130 and the second was £190, both at a main dealer

Sounds way to much. Last year I paid £225 for the second service on my partners VW Sharan at the same (main) dealer that supplied it. That was the long life service so IIRC the oil is more expensive than time and distance servicing. Also paid £45 for a brake fluid change

Cant imagine that servicing a polo is any more involved

Hi,

I have been quoted a second service fee of £285 from a main dealer. is this a reasonable price to pay to have my polo serviced or should i look for an independent garage?

20,000 mile service for my Lupo 1.4S cost me £112 about 5 years ago at my local VW franchise.

Just an oil change and usual safety inspection etc. by mechanics who are familiar with the marque.
