When I had a silver car, as soon as I drove it off the forecourt, all other cars seemed to be silver. Now I have a black car, and all other cars seem to be black!
The question is, if all other cars appear to be the same colour as the one you drive, where are all the other colours........doh! Think I need to lie down for a while.

I think 50% of all the silver cars in UK are the original model 307s, 3 and 5 door. One sees no other colour, almost!

I have a silver car, but the most common colour that I see in other cars is Grey. And very miserable it looks too. Some cracking cars out there are spoiled by being grey - though it DOES suit some cars (Audi A4 Avant, for example).
When I see othe cars like mine, they do seem to be the same colour though - maybe its because the car is silver in the brochure, and buyers see it and think that it looks OK.

What a coincidence! I was intending to post this exact topic after noticing that of the small number of 2009 cars one sees, very few seem to be silver. People seem to be going for colours again, usually metallic, but not silver, gunmetal or suchlike.
Plain black seems to be getting more popular too.
I'd like to see the roads full of more colourful cars. Deep non-metallic reds, blues and greens have always been my personal favourite colours for cars.

White seems to be making a big come-back - looks great on some cars (new Audi TT), awful on others (an X6 I saw the other day)

They're all in Portugal.
I noticed something odd as I walked through a hotel car park earlier this year. And then it hit me. There were 20 cars, 19 of them were silver and one was black.

Nothing could make an X6 look good. Although a skip dropped from a height could raise a smile :-)

Sorry, but who makes the X6?

BMW - it's a variant of the X5 effectively.

Thanks rtj. Must admit that I was totally unaware of its existence. Mind you, being a Ford man and thinking of a future replacement for my Mondeo as another Mondeo, I suppose that it is hardly surprising that BMW 4x4s do not register highly on my motoring agenda.

I used to love silver cars and my dads Escort 1.6 with that spoiler looked great in silver. However now its far too common. The main reason I bought my Corsa was the colour, Arden Blue.

No - not even that could raise a smile. BMW's used to look great, IMHO, until the Bangle era came in. He hired most of the people that remain in the design studios so don't expect change any time soon.
Now Audi's on the other hand......cool! And they DO look good in Silver!

Yes, I'd noticed that as well, loads of white 58/09 plate cars around, mostly sporty VAG products.
The vast majority of Insignias I've seen have been black, a few grey. dull dull dull. Only one in a bright colour, a metallic red.

Its all to do with how we as a nation are feeling.
When times are hard dark colours sell best and when times are good the lighter colours make a comeback.
Thats why more black than silver these days ... few years back it was all silver.

You get a similar effect with car models. When a particular model is fresh in your mind you see loads of them, but as soon as you concentrate on something else you hardly see any.

Came out of work last night and there were four cars in the "disabled" area - all of them silver (a Subaru, two Fords and something else equally forgettable)
|
I've had silver VW cars for the past 14 years; my other half usually moans that she cannot spot ours because there are so many others the same colour when she's looking out for me.
