96 1.4 - keeps cutting out and says in o2? - brendanpolo

I have just bought a VW Polo 1.4 SE and it keeps cutting out when it's cold. If the revs are low and I'm driving it cuts out and the phrase 'in o2' appears in the read out on the speedo? There isn't a manual so I have no point of reference. Any ideas?

Cutting out could be caused by a gunged up throttle body. I had this on a 1.4 Golf. I cleaned it up with a few sheets of kitchen towel, but a more thorough cleaning may be necessary. The inO2 is a service indicator. It means that the car is ready for its 20,000 service ( or multiple thereof)
