97 2.0 xsi car won't start!! - Dez25
Hi there this morning i went to start my car ( P Reg 2.0 xsi) and it wouldnt start.
It wouldnt turn over and when i turned the key all i got was a click noise.
When i got home tonight i opened the door and the alarm kept going off and the alarm light on the car kept flashing?
If it makes any difference i dont have a key fob only a key.
I tried some jump leads on it but still it wouldnt turn over and just clicked.
The car did have trouble before with starting but it just sounded like it was struggling to start but only for a second.
I noticed aswell lastnight that when i was driving along the road my lights were flickering dim the bright abt every 10 secs.
Anyone got any ideas, i was thinking maybe the alternator is knackered and battery is completely dead?
Any help is much appreciated.

hi Dez,

almost definetly a knackered battery, id replace the battery first.
Should the problem continue after a new battery then it could posibly be the alternator but i would say quite unlikely... unless you have been seeing the alternator light coming on while driving (the one that looks like a battery, yes thats the alternator light) then a new battery will probably solve all your problems.
