03 2.0TD swishing noise when accelerating. - iain073
Hi,
Got a Rover 45 TD which is making a swishing sound when I acclerate, does not seem to be losing power. Like turning a fan on.
Any ideas!

Thanks Lorraine

It probably the turbo spinning up that you can hear.

Thanks Simon, but it sounds like you have put the fan on setting 4. Didn't do it when we bought it but noisy now?

Is it something as obvious as a rear window being open a touch?
That would produce a swish.

No, checked that. The noise is coming from the engine bay and only when travelling and acclerating. Doesn't do it when you lift bonnet and rev the engine then.

Have you checked the water level?

If you accelerate hard, lift off the throttle and then accelerate hard again - does the noise momentarily cease when you stopped accelerating?

Sounds like a leak in the piping between the turbocharger and inlet manifold.

Thanks Hamsafar, got it on ramps and the plastic pipe to the turbo unit is shot at. Lorraine
