07 1.4 - failing to start when engine - jo_c
Hi, just wondered if anyone had anything similar or knows what this problem could be. I have taken the car to a Peugeot dealership 4 times with regards to this and each time they believe they have fixed it but it always seems to happen again.

It is fine when starting the engine when it is cold but after driving somewhere then trying to start it again after say half hour or ten mins etc it only starts if i rev it at the same time. The engine also cut out on me the other day when driving which has never happened before. The car is just over a year old and has only done 9,000 miles....................any ideas?!

It is under warranty is it not? Get it back to the dealership, get a courtesy car off them and keep it until it is fixed. This is an unacceptable outcome on a car of this age/mileage and being 'fixed' by a main dealer IMO

Yeah its still got another year and a bit left on warrenty. I'm paying for the car on finance and was advised by trading standards to spk to the finance company about it. They have said to take it back to the dealership for the 5th time and see if they can fix it (not sure they can after they have already tried 4 times already!). If it still has problems then they said they would take the car to the Peugeot HQ specialists in Coventry. Its driving me insane! i dont want to pay a monthly amount for a car that doesn't work properly and it looks like i'm going to be driving a courtesy car all the time.

Has anyone else suffered anything similar.............

What action did the garage take to repair it?

Well the first 2 times they downloaded new software to the ECU. Then the 3rd time they changed the injectors and the 4th time they changed '......(something) housing' - cant quite rememeber the name of the part. but it still seems to be doing it........no one seems to know what the problem is.....

Changing the coolant temperature sensor would have been a good start.

We had same issue, wife's 2008 1.4 16v started having warm start issues. Then random warning lights started coming up and 'stop engine too hot' along with an over active fan. It was clear however the car was not overheating. After a lot of research all these issues pointed to a faulty coolant temperature sensor. I got a replacement from GSF car parts for £14. It's a Lille bit fiddly to change due to the part being obscured by cables on the top right hand side of the engine. You need to remove a large green circlip and pop it out. The disconnect the terminal. Ours was very corroded and the terminals were wet. I cleaned up the terminals and refitted the new part. Bingo, started first time, idled at the correct speed and all dials went back to normal with no warning lights! Hope this may help others.
