LPG and petrol MOT testing emissions. - Tron
How do VOSA/MOT testing stations test a dual fuelled car?

Is the emission testing done on both fuel types or just one?

Does LPG or Petrol give a lower emissions reading?

Is it best to take your car in after a good run out & 'hot' or just take it in stone cold?

The car is tested on the fuel it is running on when presented at the MOT station.

If running on LPG, a correction is made to the measured hydrocarbon figure. More details on www.motuk.co.uk/manual_730.htm

I've no idea whether the car is more likely to pass on one fuel rather than the other.

It is always best to arrive at the test station with the engine fully warmed up, regardless of fuel type.

What a minefield I have walked in to here!

I have no way of testing (without paying) what fuel it is best to present my vehicle running on later in the week. This is the only area that gives me cause for concern as a possible MOT fail...

Read through the link given - very confusing!

Tron,

Happened to be talking about this to a pal of mine who runs an LPG Range Rover.

His conversion switches to LPG automatically, which means the test has to be done on LPG.

He reckons this means emissions are never any bother at the test.
