hi folks, i'm just wandering if anyone has any adjustment or any info on a 2e3 carb, my car only starts by manualy pressing the choke valve, i've checked the vacume and i seem to have a sealed unit, but everytime i press the throttle she dies on me, i've checked the mounting flange for rips or cracks but cant find any oron any of the pipes, the thermo time switch seems to be working, it just seems that i havnt got anything to regulate the choke with the rest of the car.... please help.. thanx

just an up-date, got the engine runningish, but the revs dont stay constant its like she's jumping from 800rpm to 1200rpm every 3 seconds, but quite smoothly even when hot, is there any way i can check if the mixture is ok? or the choke gap?, i dont realy know exactly what would cause this problem....it like the engine is from idle to fast idle but i dont know why, could it be related to the choke gap? vacume leak?mixture too weak? leak in fuel system??? thanx

I had an idle problem with my 1.6 2E2, I found it was a split in the short rubber brake vacume hose where it connects to the inlet manifold. A ceased (on hot) air inlet control flap also caused problems in traffic.

well i've replaced all the vacume pipesand the vacume system definetly works, my problem is now after i changed a faulty fuel pump that the automatic choke is'snt working, i've set the gap, its ok when you press the throttle but it idles fast and when you put your foot on the throttle and then let go the choke doesn't come on and she just dies on me.... i have no idea what to do next, i've cleaned the carb,checked the manifold flange thing, changed the thermo time valve, changed the vacume pipes, changed the fuel pump, i just dont have the correct settings with the choke, i've tested the choke housing which works, its aligned with the marks, the cam on the choke is ok, cos i know they made them mettle and they were known to wear and plastic that broke but mine's fine... i'm well out of ideas
