Car failed MOT on exhaust emissions caused by 3 faulty sensors(1 Lamda and 2 Nock).
Car displays ''RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE''and Jag dealer wants over £1000 to repair it. HELP AND ADVICE please.!

Lambda sensor can cause an emission fail but knock sensors shouldn't.

Thank you What will this Lamda sensor cost inc fitting--approx of course!?

Yes.

Who says - and on what hard evidence?

Guy Salmon,Jaguar Dealer in Ascot, put the car on their diagnostic machine and declared the 3 sensor faults. It had previously failed the MOT on Emissions at all levels and the MOT Testing Station advised the computer check at Main Dealers.
Thank you for your interest and question.

I'd love to know the code numbers that they found. Knock sensors should have no effect either way during emission testing.
Most exhaust oxygen sensors that are replaced are perfectly servicable; the fact that a code is logged, saying that some aspect of their signal is incorrect, does not necessarily mean that the sensor itself is defective. There may be up to four of them fitted on that year.

Thank you--very interesting!
I will ask them for the code numbers but I expect them to stutter now!
