99 1.0 3-cyl petrol - misfire - john007
Hi, my daughter has a Corsa that has a slight, but continual, misfire. I've changed the plugs and am in two minds about either changing the coil pack (@£ 140) or the camshaft sensor. I'm a novice so any other thoughts would be most welcome. - Is there possibly a test that could could do to investigate further?

Many thanks

When does it miss; idle, acceleration; hot; cold? Any smoke? Is the MIL light on?

On a lawnmower-engined Corsa; always do a compression test first if they're past 40,000. You can sequentially disconnect the injectors to discover which cylinder's missing if it's doing it at idle.

Some old bits of HT lead will let you lift the coilpack off and test the spark on individual cyls.

Are you sure it's misfiring? I hired two new ones a few years ago, and thought they were misfiring, I didn't even know they were 3 cylinders until afterwards, but kept thinking it was a 4 cylinder running on 3.
