Very difficult to answer this! Especially not knowing how diy capable you are etc.

You will need some special tools (spring compressors, spline and torx tools, good jack and stands and stout levers and possibly stillsons or similar).

Strongly suggest you get a couple of quotes from some garages and/or buy a haynes manual and read the sections thouroughly and compare info from there against quotes from garages.

Strut mounting is not a job for a novice. Radiator will make you think twice and steering arm (not quite sure what bit is involved as the description could cover a few things) could be a real pain to do.

With no offence meant, if you have to ask about these jobs you are probably best advised not to attempt them. :)

I thought I would need some specialist tools and if only using once even if hired could work out expensive, been given a rough estimate of £250 + vat to do the radiator (£150 for part plus 3 hours labour) at an idependent specialist. Just wanted to make sure they were not just easy jobs that could save me some money.

150 for the rad seems steep to me.
without knowing the exact details of the car its difficult to be sure though. ecp list a rad for under £80 which is more what I would expect. Although the rad may be different for cars with A/C.
I dont know if the bora needs to have the front bumper removed to replace the radiator? time consuming but not terribly difficult. - might need to buy tools though depending on what you have.
If you tackle that use the correct antifreeze - you almost certainly need the red vag stuff.

not sure what they mean by steering arm play - that could be bushes? track rod end? suspension arm? or steering rack? track rod end is fairly trivial, the others depend.

same for suspension mount - dont know exactlt what they mean is wrong.

brake disks and pads isnt a huge job. Question is do you also have an issue with sticking calipers or does everything move smoothly? If everything is fine apart from worn discs and pads then its straightforward, but you dont want to be rebuilding your calipers at the side of the road (but again check prices - maybe £70 for a caliper, £25 for a disc, £25 for a set of pads?) but you need to know exactly what you have

At a minimum you'll want a torque wrench and a set of sockets. probably a set of allen key sockets and a manual - have you got the haynes or a copy of the proper workshop manual (ebay)

Hi Adverse camber

I thought £150 was high for a radiator, GSF have them at £46 + vat. Yes the front bumper does have to come off

With regards to the suspension arm it was described as having play in one of the joints.

In respect of the suspension mount if I recall correctly the mount is moving so when I go over a bump or turn the car in a tight spot say car park I get a clonk type noise.

Brake dics I've been advised that these can wait.

Hope that helps.

Would the garage let you supply the rad'?
