not only is it cold in car but mpg is not so good neither ecu must
think engine is cold cause it idles at 1150rpm until engine reaches about 80c
but by then im ready to get out as journey is over so i reckon it is over
fueling aswell

It has to be changed as a complete assy together with the housing.Not a 5 min job you will probably have to remove the pas pump.hth
And in the mk2 it is replaceable on its own, costs less than a tenner, and takes 10 minutes including refilling and bleeding the system. Progress??
What possible justification can there be for a design that forces you to change the housing as well as the 'stat? Unnecessary expense, waste and use of resources.

i agree DP and what a place to put it at bottom of engine behind water pump
what other car has to have its headlight removed to access such part
manufacturers have you by the bloomers cause there isnt a pattern part
avalable so they charge the earth for such a simple part

It's not just Feelers that do this. The humble Skoda felicia has a one piece thermostat and housing cost £25, but easier to fit!
It is all in the pursuit of low carbon emissions, I think.
