Could be 2500 brand new write offs all over again, like that one a few years ago with the Volvos and BMWs (that ships name escapes me)

Funny how we are much more interested in such occurances when it involves something like cars, I guess it is because 2500 cars are tangible, we can perceive them in volume and value more so than crude or cotton or cement.

The Owners Wallenius have approx 40 odd car carrying vessels/ro-ro's of their own or chartered in, most named after Operas or characters in them, and together with various partners control a further approx 140 vessels carrying in total about 7,000,000 vehicles annually. These vessel are large and boxy and high sided, and as 2,500 cars only weigh say 4,000 tonnes, they are more likely to have weather problems then a similar dimensioned bulk carrier carrying 65,000 tonnes of iron-ore, a bit like an empty curtain sided HGV in a strong side wind as opposed to a tank on a tranporter?
