1998 1.9 110BHP - turbo overboosting - dialist
Hi, my Ford Galaxy 1998, 1.9, 110BHP, has a persistent problem with the turbo.
It will accelerate well until about 3000 revs, then the turbo cuts out and the car goes into limp mode.
I have had a ford and an independent diagnostics and they both suggested that the turbo was overboosting and needed replacing.
I've bought a new one (£500) and no change.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of an answer?
Cheers

turbo overboosting - cheddar
You could ask a VW or Seat dealer or specialist, it is a VAG engine after all and they may, no will, be more familiar with it because it is fitted to so many Golfs, etc etc etc.
turbo overboosting - Screwloose

A very common problem that has seen many similar cases to yours - new turbo; £1000 spent and no cure. What code were you getting - VAG's 17965?

What was checked or tried before that turbo was replaced? Why wasn't it just cleaned?
