I have been offered a Hyundai 1.5 mpi with a knackered head gasket.
Anyone have any experience of what sort of a job it is to do these?

1498 cc engine so unless its newer than a y plate will qualify for cheap road tax @ £115 for year
car wants to be £50 to be viable
parts are dear for yundis factor this before you open the chest
might be easier to buy an mot failure and swap engines
personally i wouldnt be interested in it but if it tickles your fancy

I would go for the engine swap. These are normally quite reliable motors so you should be able to get a decent unit at a low price.
