Vauxhall Omega AC - Mr. D
I have been advised that the compressor on my AC is leaking and needs replacing. Is it possible to replace the seals rather than the whole unit? If the unit does have to be replaced are there any drawbacks with fitting a second hand unit?

You can replace the seal.... if you have the tool to remove the clutch and one to insert the new seal without dmaging it or the shaft. By the time you get it of and replace the seal, then hope that it's leaktight, you may as well replace the whole lot with a new one. They're not terribly expensive.

A 2nd hand compressor will probably be about as good as the one you've already got, possibly worse.

Depends what you call expensive. Best I have been quoted is £300 before vat and fitting.
