gentlemen could someone please tell me if the 3.0 3GR-FE Toyota engine chain cam or belt cam?
Thankyou

I've had a quick look, but there's not a lot on this new V6 from Toyota/Lexus yet.
This from WhatCar Q&A website though:
"connected to this either by a belt or, in the case of Toyota's VVTi engines, by a chain"
The Toyota engines of the 90s I know are all belt driven. This changed with the new VVT 1ZZ and 2ZZ engines, (Gen 7 Celica etc) which became cam-chain driven.
The 2007 Lexus GS300 which uses this 3GR-FE is indeed VVT-i, which would therefore lead me to believe it is chain driven.
However, it's not conclusive in any way - who knows if Toyota stuck to this rule.
Unless you've got such an engine to look at, how about giving your local Lexus part dept for a call?
