Really, could be anything with these... read the car by car breakdown.

It might pay to take it to a rover dealer and get them to stick it on the diagnostic computer...

We had trouble with a Volvo 340 that refused to start in damp weather. I sprayed the electronic ignition module with Damp Start and cured the problem.

Damp Start used to be very poor as it flaked off after a time but the new stuff is much better.

You might want to try lifting the bonnet on a dark, damp night and look for ignition arcing. Then you should see the problem. ( If it is ignition, of course)
