Hi,
Woner if anyone could give me any pointers for the condition a friend is having on thier P Reg 1.25 Zetec Fiesta.
Symptom: If driving along and you depress the clutch the revs stay high and take some time to reduce. Alternatively, you can be at standstill, rev the engine and it will continue to rev say at 3000rpm before finally dropping down to idle.
Any hints would be welcome

Replace the idle air control valve, and maybe the throttle position sensor. (Can't remember which of these was the most likely culprit, probably the idle valve.
If it's always done it check that some goon hasn't disconnected the clutch position sensor like they did on my old Fiesta. Nearly ended up forking out for a new ECU...

If it does need a new Idle control valve it's worth shopping around. Some places are more generous than others. Had mine changed earlier in the week and the quotes varied from gariages by up to £90 pounds. As Dynamic Dave and others suggested to me the job only takes about 20 minutes, however, you need specialised tools. Look under 'whats wrong with my vectra engine'. Dave has put a link on a DIY job.
