Not really a name and shame issue as I'm not slating them, just stating a fact.

They've just told me that my Toledo 1.9 TDI 'definitely has a PD engine'; it doesn't!

I'm sure they'd notice once they had it there in front of them - but would the difference make it's way down to the final price paid...? ;o) (For a cambelt change - £300.)

I assume you're aware it isn't? By age, I'd guess. I'd have thought the PD engine would be slightly more complex so the cost would be higher, but then again what garage is going to knock £££ off when it doesn't have to?

Actually the nature of a PD engine makes a cam belt change easier, as there is no injector pump to time-up.

I took my ford Transit in to them for a fuel pump. Once that was replaced the injectors "conveinently went" then when they replaced those they broke the fittings on the injectors, leaving me stranded on the motorway. Another week without my transit while they "fixed it" and something else has just gone wrong. I have taken it to another Garage now, and they have just informed me that it only had 3 injectors replaced!

Once I have this confirmed in writing I will be seaking legal advice as what to do next.

I hate to slate someone like this but I have made 4 return visits and been a total of 2 weeks with no vehicle.

Will update in a few days with the results from the injector test to see if they did indeed not put new ones in!

Edit - sorry, we have to be very careful, however dissatisfied you are, to stick to the facts: subjective comments removed.

Presume those concerned realise they are answering a thread which is over 4 years old. I wonder if the OP still has the same car or problem

Nope - long gone! What are the odds, first time I've signed in for years and this is on the first page!

Welcome back - what a coincidence! I'm keeping a watch on this thread - so far just on the right side in terms of naming and shaming. If anyone has a good experience of this company they're welcome to redress the balance.

Hi could you let me know how you got on as have an issue with them as well, what started

of as a blown fuse £88.00 ended up in the same fault going in 3 times and costing over a thousand pounds the car isnt even worth that. they seem to use this excuse fault trace

and 4 hours later they repair. they did this 3 times and even after we told them what the AA said was wrong they still used the fault trace devise and then did what the AA

man said in the end but the charges were extreme. I would be grateful for a reply.

Just to add to the sentiment on here; I feel like I have received an appalling service – both professional and customer from this garage.

I took my VW Golf diesel here as it was experiencing problems with the turbo and I thought it should be seen by a "Diesel specialist" and their website claimed "We pride ourselves on attention to detail and quality repair."

I told them the problem and they said I would have to have a diagnostics check done at a cost of £72. I am unaware of procedure and I have no idea when it comes to car engine matters, so I went ahead with this as I was completely in their hands. The diagnostics check gave no indication to the turbo problem so they said to bring it back in a couple of days and they'd have another look at it. I returned and they looked at it and said they'd found a pipe that wasn't connected to the turbo so they'd fixed this at a cost of £30. My car was still driving the same so a couple of days later I was getting 2 new tyres at Mr Clutch (a garage chain, who are not diesel specialists) and I told them about the turbo problems and asked if they could have a look. They told me there was a pipe not connected and they fixed this for me at no cost. Was this the pipe I had paid AP Diesel’s £30 to fix!!! This work by Mr Clutch fixed the performance problems and my car has been running well ever since.

As you can appreciate I was not very happy with the service I had received from AP Diesels “the diesel specialists." They had charged me £102 and had not fixed the problem that Mr Clutch were able to fix for free and they had even charged me £30 for a job they hadn’t done. I visited the garage to complain about their service and practice and have been told that they will always conduct a diagnostics check before they open the bonnet to look at the engine. I have explained to them that I feel completely robbed because of this practice as all my car required was someone to look at the turbo and see that a pipe was not attached. I would like to stop other people getting ripped off with their practice of charging £72 for potentially needless diagnostics checks without looking at the engine to see if there is an obvious answer.

I had a problem with fuel injectors supplied by AP DIESELS and they have had my vehicle since January 2011, I have this week instructed solicitors to sort it out because all AP Diesels do is use excuse after excuse after excuse, cannot explain facts because of legal case, my personal opinion is that i would never ever reccommend them to anybody ever.

All the staff are friendly and give good sound advice when required. They tell me if the work needs doing now or if it will last another 6 months. Most garages I've used before try and tell me that it all needs doing there and then. The general manager can be seen helping out, and always goes out of his way to make sure that I'm getting looked after. I always recommend AP Diesels to friends and family.

Another post extolling the virtues of an organisation at the end of a sequence of negative ones. (See the Warrantywise thread.)

Just doesn't seem convincing.

I agree: reopening a thread after a year just to make that comment sounds like an inside job. Thread closed.
