Jaguar X-Type 2.0D - Squeals
My offside dipped headlight has failed. Purchased new H1 bulbs but am unable to gain sufficient access to the housing. Have disconnected washer jet hoses and moved out of way but still not enough room. Jag dealer wants to charge £20+VAT just to fit the bulb I've purchased and says that their engineers are "used to it" (i.e. don't take anything else apart).

ANyone able to give me some pointers or am I just going to have to "cough up"?!!

Could be like the Mondeo where you remove two pins and the light unit comes out, you disconnect the multiplug and change the bulb with the unit on the bench.

Yep, that's close. Been there; done it. If, like me you have trouble with the spring pin that has to be released first, use the end of a suitably bent wire coat-hanger. Also works in reverse to bend the spring clip back over as well.

£20 isn't bad - only 1/4 hour or so labour.
If you can, watch how they do it for future reference.
I did that with my Passat- albeit it took me a few hours recently to do an Osram SS upgrade on all four bulbs.
