VW Golf Mk.4 Rear Foglamps - KenC
My Golf has one offside rear foglamp, I am wondering if I can fit a bulb into the nearside bulb circuit. Has anyone done this ?

Usually quite simple. May involve cutting a piece of plastic away where the new bulb fits into the light cluster. This bulb holder is usually already installed in the main bulb holder block that plugs into the light cluster. It's often easier to remove the whole light cluster if you have to cut some plastic away. Then run a new cable across the boot of the car to the foglight cable on the other side and use a scotch lock connector to tap into it.

I read your subject yesterday, and on my way to work I was following a 02 Mondeo which had both rear fogs on and it became apparent that these lights mask the brake lights just enough to delay me seeing the brake lights come on, now if only one was on, then this would not happen. One is surely enough and may stop you getting a shunt.

Agreed. It was ok in the past when the foglights were in the bumper like the MK2 Astra. But when they're part of the entire light unit, only one should be allowed.

Thanks for your input, a very valid observation. I will leave it as it is.
