A colleague is trying to replace the pads on the rear of his W reg.Audi 100 Avant
The piston will not retract and it is not obvious what is stopping it.
Is it likely to be seized up or is there a technique to it?

It is possibly because the handbrake works on the rear wheels you will require a tool that screws the pistons into the caliper.

and, even with the correct tool, it can be a difficult job to do!

This might have a slot in the piston (so you can screw it clockwise inwards with a large screwdriver) or a hex shaped hole (for which you use a large hex key).
