ford focus speedo fault - mgste

i have had the prodlem when the speedo goes off and the stereo goes quiet,my dad put it on his sykes pickavant ac4 diagnostic reader and it was a gearbox speedometer sensor at fault - bit awkward to do, you need to disconnect the plug in it under car on gearbox then knock out the pin to release it then replace with new one £30 upwards but it cured it straight away that was over a year ago dont dother going to dealer
