How do you remove the temp/clock display on a 99 406?
One of the bulbs is intermittent, and I think it may be wise to replace it.

If it's the facelift model you need to gently prise off the two blanks either side of the display and you will see 4 torx headed screws. Undo these and the display is released. There are 3 lamps at the back.

Lovely.
I'll do that tomorrow, when I've replaced the rear discs and pads.

thicky here. My entire display in mine (clock/temp/radio etc) seems to have gradually getting fainter & is now unreadable, except if daylight strikes it at a certain angle. Are we talking just replacing a bulb here, or is it something more fundemental?
Thanks.

My display - (406Hdi V plate 99) seemed to be getting dimmer. Replaced two bulbs and now back to normal. Halfords sell the appropriate bulbs.

Hi,
Do you have 'brightness control' (for want of a better expression) at the right hand side of the steering column. On the Mark 1's it is just above the keypad/fusebox beside the headlight leveller. It is just in the right place to get moved sometimes as I have noticed.
