Mondeo oil light - Greg B
The oil light on my 1998 mondeo came on whilst driving. Oil level OK and no leaks or unusual noises. The light only comes on when the engine is under load - it will not come on in neutral even at high revs. Guess it could be a faulty sensor or oil pressure relief vavle. Any ideas how to tell which it is other than trial an error? Thanks in advance, Greg

Found it! Believe it or not it was an earth short in the wire that runs from the light to the oil pressure switch. Didn't fancy breaking into the loom so installed a separate wire and disconnected the old one.

I wish that they would put oil pressure guauges, as well as lights, on cars.

This would stop your problem, and the same thing that happened to my Focus.

My problem was a faulty oil pressure switch, which took the main Ford dealer 5days to repair!
