Window rubbers causing streaking - spacemax
Hi All.

Does anyone know how to stop the window rubbers of my ageing Peugeot from streaking ? It looks lovely after a wax but I am dismayed to see black streaking from the window rubbers after it rains ! Is there anything I can put on them to stop them streaking ?

If the rubber is really aging, and getting a bit crumbly and porous, I have found matt household varnish pretty good. It bonds the fragile structure of the rubber, and also incidentally stops leaks. Matt varnish dries with a very slight sheen. I put it on pretty liberally, then wipe it all off again.
Perhaps that builders stuff for stabilising crumbly plaster would work.
I'm sure there must be a proper product that someone will tell us about.

IMHO the best product would be new rubbers if they are available. I don't know how old your car is, but if you can't obtain the rubbers from an agent, try an Autojumble.

spacemax, When I had similar trouble with my ancient Volvo I impegnated the rubbers with Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Restorer I think that is what it was called. It worked a treat. About a fiver if I remember.
