Rover 414 brake lights... strange!! - DaveKent
I notice yesterday when I parked in a underground car park that my brake lights came on my Rover 414 (n reg new shape) even when the key was out the ignition. Put my foot on the brakes and both lights came on.

Is this normal on these rovers or have I got a problem?

Regards,

Dave

Perfectly normal. A lot of cars have their brake lights permanently connected to the electrics, regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not.

Thanks for the reassurance.

Does this just happen on Rover cars or all cars as i've never come across this before?

I *may* have edited in "A lot of cars have their brake lights permanently connected to the electrics, regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not." after you started your reply.

All my previous Vauxhalls had their brake lights controlled through the ignition switch, but my latest one has the brake lights live all the time.

Common for Rover to have them live all the time though.

Cheers for the help with the brake lights.

Dave

Most cars brake lights work without the key in the ignition these days.
