VW Passat 1.8 20V ABS light - chriss
For about 3 weeks now the ABS light has been coming on, along with the red ignition light (i). The 2 lights come on and a buzzer sounds. the ABS stays on permanent and the ignition light flashes. i first thought it might of been a brake pad indicator, but i changed the pads at the week end, and they dont have indicators. can any body help please.

I would suggest you get the charging circuit checked.A low or excessivly high voltage will cause the ABS system to shut down as protection against damage.

would i not find other problems with the car if the charging system was faulty. 1 other thing to add is that last week i found that the brake fluid was too low, i then filled to the max level, and if i remember rightly the light did not come on agin till i changed the breaks at the weekend, now the level is slightly over, would this cause the problem?

I agree that you have a charging fault. Voltage too high or too low.
