Lexus lights - Imagos
A simple question really, Why?

These accessories have been hijacked by the boy racer fraternity much to IMO to the detrimental effect on the image and maybe residuals of cars there fitted to as standard, ie Lexus, Mazda etc.

The sight of a tired Ford Escort with rear lenses that look ridiculas and are probably worth more than the car make me cringe. I want to ask the driver, Why? Why? (fit them)

Each to there own I suppose.

Imitation is the finest form of flattery, so now you know what kind of Chavs like this feature on the Lexus etc....
It was inevitable, it's a horrid design, than make the otherwise understated Lexus look cheap in an MG Rover kind of way.

If you notice now, new Lexus's (Lexi?) are going away from this style of rear lamp cluster.

Transparent covers were optional extras for the BMW Compact in Germany but standard accross the range in the UK. The latest versions reverted to the non-transparent types makes you wonder that they sent the wrong messages.

chav-tastic.
You can ask the same question about burberry caps. 90% of the population find them laughable, yet that 10% still think they're cool, how can they remain so mistaken when people are literally laughing at them in the streets?

Burberry are somewhat confused, whilst last year's profits were record highs, they are somewhat bemused by the Chav connection that contributed to that profit.

Would the chavs be horrified to discover that much Burberry output doesn't feature that strange 'tartan'?
Lexus lights - Happy Blue!
Yup

I have a Burberry tie with no beige or check in it whatsoever.

BTW - it was a present!

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

nothing wrong with burberry if it is genuine, most chavs wear fake , same with the lexus lights if they aint on a lexus then they are fake and look ridiculous on most cars ...cheers...keo

If i ever bought an IS200 i would have to change the lights to something a little less chav - maybe ones with a light smoke all over

The tail lights with the clear covers and 'Buck Rogers' effects inside are also very nasty if you're following a car with them and the sun is behind you. When their brake lights go on, the change is not particularly noticeable as they are already sparkling from the sunlight, and one 21 watt bulb doesn't make much difference. I have had the occasional 'eeek' type surprise from this, and wondered if the makers had ever tested them in bright sunlight. I seem to remember various Vauxhalls having them as well as Mazda, Lexus (Altezza) and the usual 'chavs' with dodgy Novas.

To prove just how out of touch i am (ask my kids) what exactly is a chav?

Imagos,
Don't ask the kids ! Do what I did and Google ! And throw the whote trainers !

I can't say 'Lexus lights' look good, either on an old Corsa or on a real Lexus. Maybe if they become the norm on new cars I'll grow to like them.

A few years ago there was a brief fashion for colour co-ordinated rear lights, covered in a semi-transparent body-coloured film. The only new cars that I remember seeing with these were Vauxhall Tigras.

I'm not too keen on the over-sized chrome headlamp clusters (Honda etc) that have a cartoony look.

cheers, SS

Aah, remember the fashion of having strips of body colour tape across the rear lights in venetian blind fashion? Oh, and the smoke coloured rear light covers (even Jaguar were guilty of this on the XJ40). Fashion is so fickle.

Ford were guilty of probably the most black rear light overkill with the '92 Granada/Scorpio.

Oh and what about a VW Sirocco white special Edition (which name escapes me) around 1989 vintage with white stripes on rear lenses? Talk about completely naff.

Scala ? (not that I had one !)

One newspaper summed up Chavs quite succinctly a few months back as people with "no manners, no morals and no taste". A bit better than my description of them...."lowlife".
