Are there any VW owners out there that are happy with there dealer service departments?
Be nice to hear a positive comment because negative seems the norm!!
Would especially like to hear a plus for any service departments in the south lincs, north cambridge area.

On the plus side my VW dealer offered to run my car through the car wash after a service. On the down side, they forgot to close one of the windows with "hilarious consequences". Their first reaction upon my complaints was to deny responsibility!
Sorry to be negative Wantone.

Oh! Dealership concerned is in deleted.

{Naming the location is enough to identify the dealer. Hence removed. DD

they put my vw polo through the car wash in deleted. before i gave them the keys i warned them that if you leave the car for more than 60 seconds then it locks itself.
got a called few hours later asking if i could come down as they had washed it and left the keys in the car - thus doors had locked themself! oh what joy!
they didnt even give me a discount.

My personal experiences with my Passat in the Thames Valley are not good but 4 years ago, my daughter in law bought a new Golf MkIV from Stanwell in Boston and generally has been pleased with the service she received when she used them.

I found Rye Mill in High Wycombe excellent when I had a VW (2001 till early 2004).

There are plenty of independent VW specialists - just as there are for most marques - around the country more than capable of undertaking the routine work.

Ask around for the best in your area.

I use National for oil and filter changes and MOT tests (two branches are involved as the nearest branch doesn't have MOT facilities) and, touch wood, I've been very satisfied to date.

I have used MotorServices of Bath for 200k+ TDi miles (mostly company car but also private); I've been pleased with the routine, repair and warranty service I've received. On the rare occasions that there have been problems with work done/not done, they have been rectified promptly and courteously. Service staff are friendly and listen to what you say...
(Private work is not cheap, though!)

I had loads of problems with a certain VW dealer in deleted (that also has a branch in deleted). Staff attitude was terrible; one time I had to take my Golf in for repair after the emissions light had come on on the dash. Manual suggested to take car straight to dealer and drive car as little as possible. I'd earlier arranged for the car rental company to leave my relief car at the garage. Upon dropoff of my Golf, I found out that they had somehow managed to give my rental car to another customer, who had driven it 20 miles home (and obviously did not want to return it through no fault of his own). The 'customer service advisor' suggested I take the other customer's rental car, for which I had no insurance, and generally had a 'What do you want me to do about it?' attitude. He even had the nerve to suggest I should drive my own car back home, even though there was something wrong with it. Eventually they lent me a car which had about a mug of petrol in it.

I have had many problems with this dealer, all servicing and technical work has been fine, but it is the attitude of the staff that really spoils things. When the lease on the car ran out (I did like the car a lot) I decided not to go with VW again.

Please note:-

All reference to dealers locations that have negative comments about them have been removed from this thread.

Although the dealers haven't actually been named, giving their location would be enough to identify who they are - i.e. you're naming and shaming, which is not permitted.

Oval Westbury (Wiltshire) were always excellent when I used them. Obliging and competent, no hidden surprises when the bill was presented.
