One factor in the display of badges at one time was the facility often offered by various tubular members supporting or bracing wings, headlights, stoneguards and the like for affixing more or less decorative auxiliary lamps, horns and of course badges; up to half a dozen was quite normal and approved by small and not so small boys. As things became more "streamlined" there were fewer convenient tubes and things and the market for badge bars emerged. Now things are so unaccomodating that I have to stick Toyota Enthusiasts and Lagonda badges inside Toad's windscreen where they can't be seen for the parked wiper. (Toad is automatic, by the way - I made the sacrifice because he has very low mileage.)
