Volkswagen scirocco dropped door - tcw

Hello all.

Could you please give me information on how to fix the dropped drivers side door on my brothers scirocco. It?s dropped and can let in water!

A ?how to? or a few pointers or even a good VW/scirocco site would be cool. Is it just a case of loosening the hinge bolts and realigning? What gap should be around the door?

Any help you could give would be greatly received.

Hi Tom,

The best place to begin is to find out *why* the door has dropped. It could be worn hinge pins, or perhaps the hinge area is suffering from corrosion.

Once you have sorted out the root cause of the door dropping, the door should be adjust to have even, parallel panel gaps.

I think the doors sag because of their weight. The 'A' post actually deforms a bit over time.

Firstly, see if their is any play in the hinges by opening the door and 'lifting' it. Any play will be felt. It there is play then replace the pins (cheap).
Other than that you can adjust using the bolts, plus adding packing, if necessary.
