Saw two this morning.
Why do people buy them? Does anyone have one who can enlighten me?
Surely it must grate after a few months? You know the sort of morning, after a rough night, some bad news in the post, then you step outside and have to get in a car that is the chromatic equivalent of a grinning idiot.

I have a cousin in America (yes only in America!) who will only buy yellow cars because statistically, they are involved in fewer accidents.
I'm not sure I should admit to having this cousin......

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

I know. No wonder NYC cab drivers are so rude.....

They're great, I've owned 2 yellow cars and they were both incredibly reliable.
I'm going to suggest that Mercedes start offering yellow cars to try and get their longevity image back;-)

Well i like yellow,i think it suits certain cars and have just ordered a new Celica auto from Japan in that colour.

Alot of it depends on the car, some look great and others look awful, and a lot of it depends on the shade of yellow.
When I fully rebuilt and modified my beetle I painted it Ford Daytona Yellow, now thats propper yellow, none of this yellow with a hint of ;green, blue, orange etc. it is YELLOW.
I seen to remember seeing somewhere that yellow is the easiest colour for other drivers to see in bad weather conditions.

Very fond memories of a Mk1 Ford Escort in Daytona Yellow. Looked great in yellow.

I know I keep banging on about the VX220 but I think it looks terrific in yellow. And where does this idea that it's ugly come from? A nice look of understated aggression I think. The sight of those rear flanks in the door mirror is fab.

Certainly new I would agree but they seem second hand bargains.
HJ's auction report a week or so ago had two pretty similar Leon Cupras, the yellow one being over a grand cheaper than the black one (I seem to recall).
I would have gone for the yellow one at the price had I been there.

Depends on the particular shade of yellow - same with green, especially some of the light coloured ones which can really trouble the eyes.
My daughter had the first yellow Renault Megane two-litre Coupe to be sold in the North West back in 1995 or 1996 - it was featured in all the Renault advertising in this colour and she loved it. It was the most popular colour for this model as far as I'm aware and there are still plenty around here.

Perhaps the best place to be is actually inside these 'lemons', looking out?

Many moons ago, Warwick University were commissioned by Coventry fire service to come up with a noticeable and unique colour for their vehicles because they reckoned that red fire engines didn't stand out sufficiently amongst the plethora of red trucks on the road already. The outcome was a striking greeny-yellow which was subsequently given British Standards recognition and was named Coventry Fire Engine Yellow. Unfortunately after a few years "the government" demanded that all fire service vehicles must be red. Pity really, because the yellow was absolutely striking and really stood out. It was said that some people found it so striking that after looking at it for a few minutes they felt physically sick!

L'escargot by name, but not by nature.

Seen a bright yellow 54 Reg Jag X type recently in Edinburgh. Turns what I think is an attractive car into a hideous one. Absolutely revolting. Must knock hundreds off the resale value.

It's my choice as THE colour, especially on sports cars & even on more mundane motors, it's an excellent choice!!
Think of these few & tell me I'm wrong....
All small Fiats
70's Fords
VX 220
Daihatsu Copen
US muscle cars
King-cab pick ups
Hummer
RX8 (lightning yellow has NOW been added as a UK colour choice, it wasn't initially, despite being the pre launch, show cars, mostly being so)
& there was talk of a EU directive, that all utility vehicles, were to be yellow.(Wonder ehere that idea went??)That was the same year BT went grey - the CRAZIEST choice, for anything that would spend it's life, mostly, at the roadside!!

Mnay years ago, an advertising man told me that yellow increases the blink rate and thereby attracts attention. So yellow, he claimed, is a great color to grab the attention of a potential buyer, who will however want to buy any colour except yellow ...

Saw a Merc SLK about a year ago, looked OK; but what was especially striking was the registration: YEL10W

I'll never have a GT40 now, I fear; but if I had, and I could use it without camouflage, yellow would be the colour, so the hoi polloi could see me (rapidly enlarging in the mirror) coming.
