warranty joke - Colin Standing
Helped buy K Nissan Sunny 1.6 estate for son from main Ford dealer. 3 months warranty. From beginning 2 obvious problems i) unexplained high revs while waiting e.g at junctions whilst accelerator pedal untouched ii) when cruising on level, engine starts to 'miss' if slight incline reached. Car returned now 4 times to Ford who claim to have taken it twice to Nissan main dealer. Car also returns poor mpg figures. Only 55k on clock supported by servicing and MOT details.
What next please- and thanks in advance

Re: warranty joke - Andrew Moorey (Tune-Up Ltd.)
A lot of these cars have a horrible electronic carburettor linked to an ECU monitoring various signals from engine sensors including an O2 (lambda) sensor. This is to enable a catalytic converter to be used for 92- emissions.
These carbs are tricky to set up and it would appear that there is a fault either with the fuel basic setting or a sensor fault most likely the engine temperature sensor (not gauge) or the lambda sensor. Does the engine warm up properly? A newthermostat may help. Also is the intake air heating mechanism on the air filter working? Difficult to answer without seeing the car but it may be a starting point.
