Audi A6 2.6 V6 broken cam belt costs - Ian M
A friend of mine just called me out to help him recover a 120000 mile Audi A6 2.6 V6 avant estate that had just suffered a cam belt breakage with the inevitable engine contacts. Now obviously HJ's sound advice about cam belt replacement probably would have prevented this but now the damage is done does anyone have any first hand expreience of likely repair costs, I have said 2K at an Audi dealer but would appreciate any first hand expereience....Oh by the way the car has a FSH but probably not with anyone that knew what they were doing!!...

Serious wonga, this one - David Lacey
This is going to cost a serious amount of money to repair.

I would look for a good secondhand engine and fit that, with a new belt, of course!

This way, it should be cheaper.......

If it needs a replacement engine you can double that price at a VAG garage ,try heathrow engines

This engine has two catalytic converters. If they got spiked as a result of the valves hitting the pistons, reckon on an extra £1,200. At 120k miles they were probably near the ends of their lives anyway.
