AFAIK the Defender's five-year exemption expired 31/12/2015 as it no longer met EU safety rules so new Defender's can't be sold in the EU.

Defenders have always held onto their value very well.

Usually to reach those levels they are customised by people like Twisted, Alive (previously td5alive), Kahn, SMC Overland etc. Still a few 2015 models on sale as 'new'. I saw one recently for a similar price at a Bentley dealership.

As for value for money, well in the absence of an engine swap to get rid of the transit engine + a decent auto gearbox, no! A chevy v8 would go wonderfully, but for some odd reason they just seem to focus on making it 'handle' by which they mean fitting rock hard suspension without any travel. Useless.
