Berlingo Gearbox Whine & Wear - Berlingo Gearbox Whine & Wear - ChuckleBus

Ok all, need a bit of info...

My Citroen Berlingo Multispace 2010 1.6HDi has just been in for a new clutch (high biting point and bit of slippage, nothing major, but get it done before it fails completely!)

Has come out the garage, and it now has a gearbox whine in 1st-5th, and its very hard to get into the gears with clutch fully depressed.

Is now back in garage, they have charged me for gearbox oil, but tech said he didn't re-new it, juts put old lot back in.

The gears selected fine and made no noise at all before clutch change, in fact the box was absolutly fine.

Garage has drained oil out for 2nd time and has now found metal filings in the oil.

Between picking it up from garage and returning back to garage car has done 40miles ish.

Any ideas on what could have happened and what my next steps are?

Gear box oil has to come out to change the clutch,

it just pours out from the drive shaft hole when the shafts are removed.

So I'm at a loss why you'd put it back in.

It's only 2 liters so about £20.

And the metal swarf is probably from the bearings and syncros.

So not throwing stones here but I'm wondering IF they remembered to put any oil in when the box was back in.

40 mile would lunch a dry gearbox.

How you could proove this I don't know,

I'm just speculating.

So as prooving anything might be difficult I'd suggest you talk to the garage about a S/H gearbox.
