VW Golf Mark 7 2013 - VW rear discs - John Reeve
I bought a Golf Mark 7 it is just two years old and has 15k on the clock,

Just had a service and had to have the rear discs and pads replaced , they had a rusty ring on the surface of both discs, looks like the pads have been only touching part of each disc.

I queried this with the VW technician who confessed that he had seen three Mark sevens like this. I managed to get the garage to cover half the £ 330.00 cost.

Since then I looked at a one year old Mark 7 and it has the same damage.

Could anyone with a Mark 7 tell me if they have had a similar experience with the rear disc?

The problem with most cars with rear discs is that they get very little use so that the surface corrosion doesn't get removed with gentle use. Try braking hard once or twice on each journey. Yes it wastes fuel, but it will make the discs last longer.
