Ford Fiesta Van 1.8d 1999 - new altonator but still wont charge grrrr! - cosmozz

hi all pleas can someone keep me sane,, the battery was not charging on the van but fine off battery charger so i changed the altonator, to my utter frustration it still will not charge, the 2 wires on off the back of it 1 to battery 1 to dash are both in the correct places is there a fuse/relay that i have missed? has anyone ele had the same thing happen or can offer some helpfull advice

Is the dash charge light working?

The little red light needs to be on/lit to energise the alternator field.

And I'm not sure about yours but Transits have a fuse wire link in the harness.

So running a heavy gauge wire from the alternator to the battery POS efectivly bypasses the link.

And a good way to test alternators.
