Hi, I have problem with my car witch i bought a few days ago so im still waiting for v5. but the car has been impounded for no tax and it also have no mot. have I got any chance to get it back and claim it. because i didnt even drive it and i couldn't tax it or make it SORN. thank you

The seller should have given you the new keeper supplement which has all the info to enable you to tax the vehicle. As far as I am aware you cannot tax a vehicle without the info on the V5C, if I am worng on that someone please correct me. But you can declare SORN by submitting form V890 and include form V62 to register the vehicle in your name.

The law is quite clear, a car must be either taxed or on a SORN and to be used on the road must be taxed, MOT'd and insurred. The only exception is you can drive a car to a pre booked MOT with no tax but the car must still be insurred.
