Ford Focus - Noisy Ford Focus Heating Fan - KitsuneAndy

I have a MK1 (53 plate) 1.8 TDCI

The heater fan makes a racket every time it's on, not sure whether I just need to clean the bearings properly, or just replace the fan.

However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the fan!

I've taken off the glove compartment, taken off a bit of the trunking, undone the three screws holding the fan it. And it would just drop out... If it wasn't for the mountings for the LHD pedals sitting beneath it in the passenger footwell.

Is there another way to remove this? Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks,

Andy

I think you will find that the motor is a bayonet fit into the air ducting ,there are no screws holding it in.There is a locking tab that needs to be released before the motor can be rotated.May find the motor full of debris or leaves, especially if the cabin filter has not been fitted correctly.

There's definitely 3 screws on the underside of the fan housing. Unless there's another way of removing it?

Found several videos, but in all of them, the passenger footwell is free from obstruction, so it just drops down after the three screws are undone.
