The keys and ignition barrel on my son's Punto are worn making the car a fiddle to start. The car has manual central locking. I have sourced a brand new set of keys and barrels however, the keys are for remote central locking. I don't envisage this as a problem as regards fitting the ignition barrel, as from my searches of the Web, the transponders are the same and so it should be possible to programme to the car OK.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to get the remote locking function to work? What does the key communicate with when you press the button and is that unit already fitted to the car, but is just redundant with manual central locking?
