2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.2 E (55) - ECU Reset - PX-230A

Does anyone know how to reset the ECU without using VAG-COM or other diagnostic software? I'm wanting to clear the "learned" values (apparently it's a self-learning ECU?).

I've read online that disconnecting the battery does nothing as the values are hard-stored - anyone know if this is true or not?

Thanks in advance!

Reset adaptions can only be done diagnostically.Disconnecting the battery will not do it.What is you problem with the car?

Thanks - thought this was the case.

I've had a new exhaust fitted as the previous one had a massive hole in it. Fuel consumption was awful with the exhaust with a hole in it, it is slowly getting better than it was (must be re-learning), but I figured I'd reset the ECU to help it along a bit.

Done about 400-500 miles since new exhaust.
