Rover 618 - Rear Knocking After Replacing Rear Shocks - DedRob

Hi

My father in laws car recently failed mot on rear shocks, I bought new rear shocks and fitted them for him and it passed mot.

Recently he has been complaining of a loud clunk/knock when he goes over pot holes or speed humps and only when the rear wheels hit it. The noise is getting louder and very worrying.

I have checked the bolts etc and all tight and checked the back seats.

Any help would be much appreciated, I did wonder if maybe the springs had gone now.

The list is quite long,Broken rear spring, worn suspension rubber, damaged exhaust mount, its just a matter of going through everything carefully.

If you can't find anything wrong from that sensible list there is always the remote possibility that the shockers are not the right spec, did you compare like for like with an old one and check for length fully open and closed up?

Also depending how they are fitted sometimes you need to lower the car to the ground to load the bushes before final tightening.

These are only remote possibilities i should add.
