Looking at the prices of Jag XJs in the UK, the 3.0 l petrol comes in at about 43k pounds. With the pound -euro exchange rate at nearly 1-1, this price is ridiculously low compared with the price in Germany where the same car is listed at 70k euro. At 45k euro, this is equivalent to a BMW 3 series. Chance of a bit of luxury on the cheap?
What are the chances of being able to source a LHD model from the UK? Are the dealers likely to be only able to supply RHD to support the continental dealers?

There are some bargains about - dealer told me this one cost £55k a year ago. 9000 miles later it's yours for £32k (or a bit less if you do a bit of bargaining??)

The BMW 530i is also 20% cheaper in the UK - ?38 500 compared with (to?) ?48 400 here.

This is a bit pointless, surely?
The price "differences" are due entirely to the absurd strength of the Euro. It's absolutely killing German manufacturers to sell cars in the UK at the moment and only the credit crunch is stopping them from massively raising prices.

Why pointless - if I can save 20% off the list price and help the cash flow of the ailing car industry, it seems to be a win-win to me.

Thanks oldnotbold. I am so tempted.

Sounds like the reverse of a few years ago when Brits were importing RHD cars into the UK...
