Hi everyone. I'm a newbie to this forum. I've done a search on drivethedeal.com, which comes recommended by Honestjohn, but can't find any reports from people who have bought cars through them. I'm looking to do so in the next few weeks and I am aware they source cars from UK dealers. If there are problems with the car I presume my redress is with the dealer rather than drivethedeal and am slightly concerned about buying a car from many miles away and then being left with problems I have to turn to my local dealer to fix under warranty - and he is not likely to be keen to help!! Is there anyone out there who has bought a car through them, and particularly has anyone had any problems, and how were they dealt with?
Thanks in advance!

We bought an Aygo through them and saved £700, best a local dealer could do was £250 discount. They wouldn't match the DTD price. I suggest you get a DTD price then go and ask a dealer if they can match it, some will.
Car ordered and confirmed in less than a week - one phone call from DTD to confirm the supplying dealer then everything was done through the dealer.
Ours was from 200 miles away from us and it was driven up, but that didn't concern us. It did have a fault on delivery, which took a week for us to notice - a dodgy boot lock, a well known problem. Local dealer sorted it in a day. No questions asked as to where car came from etc, its an official UK car and on the Toyota database so covered by their warranty. The car was manufactured 5 weeks before we received it, so it hadn't been sat in a field for months.

Did you use the forum search (just under where you log in) or the site search?
The former will only search forum related topics - the latter everything bar forum posts.
That aside, obviously because of naming / shaming if anyone has any negative views, and if Aberdoc is willing to provide an email address, they can be addressed directly to him.

Many thanks to everyone for the replies. I did do a forum search for drivethedeal but nothing turned up, so thanks for the link. I understand re the naming and shaming etc. If anyone has any negative views they can be emailled to me at honeybun at tesco dot net
It all looks pretty positive however, so thanks again.

Ordered my new A3 through them a few weeks back. Did it all including spec etc through their site. Call next day to thank me for the order and to introdouce themselves, followed by call from the supplying dealer to confirm spec and provide his contact details etc. Car coming from the otehr end of teh country, but not my problem as it will be delivered on a trailer. Still not got the car yet (factory order) but dealer has kept me posted on progress. So far all very professional and no reasons to expect any problems.

I have not used Drive The Deal but the only problem I have found so far is that they don't provide the full range of options and accessories that a dealer can. On the other hand, they discount what they do provide at the same rate as the car. I am strongly tempted. For a projected Fiat Grande Punto, they offer 16% off most of the range, up to 20% for the priciest. I shall certainly draw my dealer's attention to this - although, of course, he must know perfectly well already.

I can wholeheartedly recommend dtd. You make the initial order through them and then shortly afterwards you are contacted by a main dealer in your area (may not be your nearest) who will go through the order to confirm details. Deposit paid to main dealer and no further involvement of dtd. In my case, and I'm sure this is always so, the purchase with the main dealer is through 'fleet sales', which is how dtd can get the discounts.
I saved £2k on my factory-ordered Passat. Unless my local dealer can get very close to the dtd price I'll get my next new car through dtd.

Try jamjar.com as well - sometimes they offer even cheaper.

Drive the deal don't appear to do part-exchange - so if you want to get the best out of them you'd have to sell your present car privately, with all the hassle that that involves.

You could use broadspeed - same system as dtd and they do take p/ex. Give them full details of the tradein and then they take it away at the time the new one is delivered. Presumably if they don't agree with your assessment of condition then there will be an adjustment; however, the price will no doubt be underwritten when they quote it.

Many thanks to everyone for the replies. In the end we went to our local dealer armed with the DTD price and asked him to match it, which he did, slightly reluctantly. At least this way we have slightly more security in terms of after sales, although I certainly don't attach much importance to this from our previous experience with dealers. Not having a PartEx seems to be the thing that is the greatest influence - our previous car was contract hire so we had no part ex.

What did you order?
What % did you get off the list price?
