An auction house is asking for more money on a car I won fairly - do I have to pay the extra?

I bought a car from very well known car auction. I was sent an invoice, which I settled the invoice in full. A couple hours later, I received a call from the vendor asking for another £1000 for the car due to a mistake on the odometer. On their listing, the mileage was 52,000 - with the car priced according to that. But real mileage should have been 31,000 miles because the number they put down on their listing was kilometres. This was an auction, I had very limited time and thought this was a nice car. I went for it, exceeded the reserve price and won the auction fairly. I paid the auction house in full. Do they have the right to cancel the sale due to their mistake?

You bought the car. You have nothing more to pay and they can't make you pay any more. The auction house will have to cover the cost of its mistake with the vendor, but it's trying to con you out of the money. Tell them flat no.
