KIA Sorento blowing smoke on cold start up

My 2007 KIA Sorento 2.5 CRDI blows smoke on every cold start up. The problem usually clears as the car gets going, but it never happens when the engine is hot, what’s going on?

Could be that not all the glow plugs are glowing, so the fuel in one or two combustion chambers is not properly igniting. Once the engine heats up the compression alone is enough to combust the fuel.
