Pot-hole damage - Can I claim for repair costs from local highway authority?
My son ran into a pot-hole in Leeds and damaged the suspension on his car, which will cost about £500 in repair costs. The symptoms manifested themselves immediately after the incident and the damage is definitely due to the pot-hole impact. He doesn't want to claim on his insurance since it will affect his no claims bonus and increase next years insurance premium. Can he claim from the relevant authority for the repair costs?

Only if the pothole has been previously reported and remained unrepaired. Check on www.fixmystreet.co.uk and www.potholes.co.uk
